What Began in a Barn

A Reflection on the First 7Two MIND Un-Conference

What if someone in this room helps change the lives of one hundred million people?

That was the question we asked as more than 35 extraordinary founders, scientists, researchers, investors, and philanthropists gathered in a barn in Park City on August 26, 2026.

It was an unlikely place to begin something important, which may be exactly why it worked.

There were no stages, no lengthy presentations, and no panels of experts speaking at an audience. Instead, we spent the day asking questions, challenging assumptions, sharing experiences, and listening to people who see the same problems from very different perspectives.

What if mental illness could become as preventable as heart disease?

If we could rebuild the mental healthcare system from the ground up, what would we do differently?

What will future generations look back on and ask, “Why did we ever do it that way?”

These are not simply scientific questions. They are not only investment questions or philanthropic questions. They are human questions.

The brain gives us every memory, every relationship, every idea, and every dream. Yet despite extraordinary scientific progress, we are still only beginning to understand it. Millions of people and families continue to live with conditions for which our tools remain incomplete, our systems fragmented, and our answers insufficient.

Behind every diagnosis is a person. Behind every person is a family. And behind every breakthrough is someone who was willing to believe that a better answer was possible.

That is why we created the 7Two MIND Collaborative.

Our purpose is not simply to invest in companies. It is to build a community capable of accelerating meaningful progress in brain and mental health. We want to connect scientific discovery with capital, experience, philanthropy, and a shared sense of responsibility.

Throughout the day, something powerful began to happen. New relationships were formed. Ideas crossed disciplines. Scientists heard the perspective of investors. Founders connected with philanthropists. Researchers challenged assumptions about what could, or could not, be accomplished.

Different perspectives did not get in the way of the conversation. They made the conversation better.

We did not leave Park City with every answer. That was never the goal.

We left with better questions, stronger connections, and a clearer understanding that none of us can solve these problems alone.

The true measure of the day will not be what was said in the barn. It will be what happens next: the conversation someone continues, the introduction someone makes, the research someone supports, the company someone helps build, or the life that is ultimately changed because this community came together.

Our closing question was simple:

What are you going to do differently on Monday because of today?

The first 7Two MIND Un-Conference was not a conclusion. It was an origin story.

And like many great moments, it began with a small group of people, gathered in an unexpected place, asking what might be possible if we worked together.

The brain may be the last frontier in healthcare. We believe the next generation of great discoveries and companies will be built here.

And perhaps someone who stood in that barn in Park City really will help change the lives of one hundred million people.
